What gave you the idea/inspiration to start HerPaperRoute?

I launched HerPaperRoute shortly after I had my son. I was on maternity leave from my corporate marketing career, and although I loved the business of marketing, I did not want to have to leave my baby to return to working for someone else. So I made it my goal to launch my own business where I could help others learn marketing, funnels and monetization, from home. It worked, and I was able to replace my salary before my maternity leave was supposed to run out!




How did you get started in blogging and blog flipping?

Since college, I had a blog as a hobby and always enjoyed writing. I started creating niche sites and niche online businesses as a creative outlet, running them for a while, getting them profitable and then selling them so that I could focus on the next project. I fell in love with buying websites, developing them and selling them for profit, and pretty soon people started asking me to help them sell their sites. So I launched the marketplace https://blogsforsale.co as a way to connected creators with investors.




What’s your favorite type of blog to create, favorite post/product to create?

I love affiliate marketing, and I love content that is educational. So any post where I get to write a review-tutorial post that educates someone on how to solve a major pain point with an affiliate product is a joy!





How do you choose the posts you create?

My process for choosing what posts to write comes down to a combination of the product for sale, keyword research, and customer research. First I pick an affiliate product that I want to sell, I make sure I understand the pain point it solves, and then I go and see what people are sharing online around about this pain point. For example, if I'm planning to write an article about an app that helps people plan their Instagram content, I'll go and see what reasons people have for not planning their Instagram content. "It's too time-consuming" "I don't know what to post" "I don't know what my audience wants...." What are they struggling with? I then do keyword research (Google keyword tool works just fine) and I find out exactly what people are asking Google about this pain point. For example, a search term like "what to post on Instagram" I will then create the post and call it something like "Always know what to post on Instagram, every time." I will write the post with helpful Instagram tips, and then explain all the things the app does to solve pain points. I'll link out to the app with my affiliate link, and earn commissions on every sale.





How do you choose the products you create – ie is there something that you take inspiration from when you start a product?

Oh yes! I am constantly surveying my audience to see what they need help with. I use their suggestions to decide what products I create.






What would you tell a new blogger for encouragement?

Allow yourself time to learn, experiment and grow. Blogging isn't a race, and there is a lot to learn. Go slow, learn a little every day, and know that success is something you can work towards and develop over time.





What is something you are passionate about and why? 

I am very passionate about helping creatives navigate the 'techy stuff' like funnels and marketing strategy so that they take control of their wealth and happiness by continuing to put out content they love, while knowing that their systems are at work behind the scenes, generating revenue.







If you had one (or several) things to share with a woman entrepreneur who was a mother, what would it be? What would you encourage them about?

I would just say, be your biggest cheerleader. Have faith in your ideas.







What is a lesson learned for being a woman entrepreneur that you wish someone had told you when you first started?

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that there is an incredible, supportive sisterhood in the women entrepreneur communities. I had never experienced this in any other space in life before.







Fun question – if you could meet one person in history or present, who would it be and why?

It would be bad ass to meet Michael Jackson.







What is your dream for HerPaperRoute to be (where do you see HerPaperRoute in 5+ years)?

I may get more into the SAS business in time. I'm a big believer in the power of a good CRM tool for business and so far I haven't met one that is truly all-in-one that solves all the needs of an entrepreneur. Maybe I will develop it one day! But for now, I am happy with where things are at.
